According to data released by the German Federal Statistics Office on the 9th, after working days and seasonal adjustments, German merchandise exports in June rose by 1.3% month-on-month, the 14th consecutive month of month-on-month increase; merchandise imports increased by 0.6% month-on-month.
Data shows that in June, German merchandise exports and imports rose by 23.6% and 27% year-on-year respectively. In the same month, German exports and imports to other EU member states increased by 26.1% and 22.1% year-on-year; exports and imports to countries and regions outside the EU increased by 20.7% and 33% year-on-year, respectively.
The data also showed that China was Germany’s largest source of imports that month. Germany’s imports from China were 10.9 billion euros, up 11.1% year-on-year; Germany’s exports to China were 9.5 billion euros, up 16% year-on-year.
The German Federal Statistics Office stated in a statement that after working days and seasonal adjustments, German merchandise exports and imports for the month were both higher than the levels before the outbreak of the new crown epidemic in Germany in February 2020, increasing by 1.1% and 10% respectively.
